Celebrating the Heroes - International Women's Day
International Women’s Day started more than a century ago after protests on working conditions in America and we have come a long way since then when it comes to women and their contribution in every walk of life.
Women are national leaders in some of the most complex yet successful governments like New Zealand, Germany and Bangladesh and kudos to the US for having the first female Vice President.
While these are great achievements and a step in the right direction, we have a long way to go and the change can be simpler if world and company leaders advocate for them.
As these leaders do their job, let us do ours too. Deep rooted beliefs and misconceptions are difficult to uproot and discard but one pluck at a time, its doable. Let us start with the women around us, the women we care about, the women we see everyday at work or our favorite barista.
What can we do?
Greet them first, greet them with a smile, offer help and wish a very Happy International Women’s Day and tell them its their day. To top it, gift a flower or gift many more of them and add some things they love.
Chocolates, personalized jewelry, watches, scarfs and perfumes may make great gifts.
The idea is not to present gifts, it is to make the women of your life feel special and how you do that is up to you.
